So basically shutting off the other pool of abilities you spent all game developing. The boss has both an AoE silence, and another ability that punishes willpower usage - an ability that is map wide and permanent. Removing abilities that the player has developed for the final fight - the fight where a player really should be able to show off those abilities - is bad level design. The game was fun throughout most of it, and then the last mission is like they couldn't figure out an interesting way to end it, so they just strip you of everything fun and make you slog for an - Doesn't really address the fact that you lose out on an ability pool that you spent time and resources developing, does it? That's not even getting into the technical issues - twice I had the game lock up and I had to restart, and I ended up reloading a few times just to clear out the bodies that were slowing down my PC. I'm not exaggerating here - I never once saw his attack animation. I simply hit him until he stunned, then spent the next twenty minutes fighting reinforcements. What's even worse is that I never saw the boss even attack. Also, all of the sudden I can't use strategems? I can't use willpower? So basically I spent all game developing these special abilities, both on characters and as the commander, and on the final boss.I don't really get to use them? I want to fight the big boss, not spend 3/4 of the time fighting his reinforcements. The Big boss is also basically a shield generator that you have to wack until you can get to the real targets. It also strips you of a lot of the special abilities you've spent all game developing. It ends up with two parts, and the part with the big boss is NOT the part you spend most of the time on. Some interesting upgrade mechanics, between the skill trees, the ship, the strategems, etc. If you know 40k, you'll enjoy the story and the lore. Definitely has the feel of playing Space Marines. Good artwork, Especially on the artificer armors. The good - it's a fun game if you like X-com style games. Overall, I had fun with this game - until the last mission.
